Pure Leaf, Lindsay Lohan Combat Burnout with Tea Breaks

Pure Leaf has just launched its new campaign starring “Parent Trap” actress Lindsay Lohan advocating for revitalizing daily tea breaks in workplaces.

Starting June 27 until July 25, the PepsiCo brand will embark on a nationwide promo that will give Americans a free bottle of its iced tea when they text PURELEAF to 737-377-3774.

The initiative aims to combat burnout by providing a refreshing drink to recharge at work.

It’s no secret that the “Mean Girls” star went through a rough patch in her career and personal life, coming back healthier than ever in 2022 with a multi-film deal with Netflix.

“For me, prioritizing breaks is essential for all of the roles I juggle, allowing me to return stronger and more restored,” Lohan said in a press release.

Fighting Against Workplace Burnout
In collaboration with Mind Share Partners, a nonprofit organization that advocates for workplace mental health, Pure Leaf commissioned Edelman Data & Intelligence last month to conduct a survey about employee burnout.

The sample consists of 1,010 employed and self-employed workers in the U.S., who answered an online 10-minute survey.

The “State of the Break” report found that almost two-thirds of them “feel mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted” and about 70% weren’t actually taking quality breaks.

According to Julie Raheja-Perera, general manager/VP of the Pepsi Lipton Partnership North America, Pure Leaf wants to remind people that quality breaks are important.

By drinking “delicious iced teas made from a few high-quality, simple ingredients, and naturally occurring caffeine from tea leaves” during their breaks, people can feel more revitalized at work, Raheja-Perera added.

In addition to the complimentary iced tea that it’s giving away, the brand also created the Pure Leaf Tea Break Grant Program, which sponsors small businesses and non-profits to develop better break initiatives, encouraging their employees to “take a meaningful break, unapologetically.”

Pure Leaf and Lindsay Lohan’s Call to Action
The campaign was launched with a 90-second spot titled “Pure Leaf and Lindsay Lohan team up to make Tea Breaks happen!”

The commercial opens with the actress-producer at her office, surrounded by her busy colleagues, asking viewers when was the last time they took “a real break.”

She then starts walking, being met with people who show what exactly a quality break is not.

“Going to the bathroom camera off is not taking a break. Sad desk lunches don’t revitalize us. And doom scrolling does nothing but drain us,” Lohan says.

The 37-year-old actress then steps up on a coffee table and shouts, “It’s time for a tea break,” making people stop in their tracks and pay attention to what she’s saying.

“We all deserve a moment to recharge and revitalize ourselves. I’m guilty of skipping breaks, too,” Lohan admits.

She then urges everyone to take a break however they want, and to take it proudly.

“Brag about it. Take a selfie. Let’s start a trend,” she adds.

Her colleagues then start chanting “tea break,” and the spot ends with everyone going outside to take a quality break and “a moment to reset.”
