The Colombian singer wore an ensemble inspired by “The Garden of Time” theme.
Shakira has officially arrived at the famous staircase at the Met Gala 2024.
The Colombian singer made her debut at fashion’s biggest night this evening alongside Carolina Herrera’s creative director, Wes Gordon, wearing a show-stopping red ensemble he designed for the “Garden of Time” dress code. The vibrant strapless dress featured cut-out details with sleeves that turned into a train.
She paired the dramatic number with a vintage Cartier brooch featuring trapeze shaped diamonds with one Burmese ruby cabochon weighing approximately 30 carats, as well as a diamond necklace and ruby and diamond rings.
The Cartier brooch was sewed into the gown last minute by an on-site atelier at The Pierre.
Gordon, for his part, looked dapper in a suit and wore three 1960’s archival diamond brooches from Boucheron on his lapel.
Shakira and Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera teamed up for the Met Gala.
Tonight’s Met Gala is celebrating the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Approximately 250 items spanning 400 years from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection will be showcased and feature rarely-seen pieces, including a 17th century Elizabethan-era bodice, designs by Elsa Schiaparelli and Christian Dior, and modern creations by the likes of Phillip Lim and Stella McCartney.
Earlier today, the Grammy Award winner teased her attendance on her Instagram stories, sharing a photo of a display with various creations featured in the Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion exhibition.
This evening marks Shakira’s first red carpet appearance since releasing her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry), in March. One of the last times she was on the red carpet was nearly six months ago at the 24th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in November 2023.
