EXCLUSIVE: Global superstar Dua Lipa to make her PH comeback concert an all night party

MANILA — It’s been six years, 2018, since global superstar Dua Lipa set foot in the Philippines for a concert.

Now, she’s all set and ready for her comeback concert in the country in November, as part of her “Radical Optimism” tour.

Speaking exclusively to ABS-CBN News, Dua said that she has always loved the energy and passion of her Filipino fans every time she’s in the country for shows.

“It’s unbelievable, I know, I know. I’m ecstatic, really, to come back. It’s been, you know, it’s been too long, you know, and I really wanted to come and bring my last tour there and unfortunately it just wasn’t, it wasn’t possible,” said Dua.

During the global lockdown when concerts were downsized and limited, the Albania-born singer pressed on with her “Future Nostalgia” shows in some parts of North America despite the COVID scare, but wasn’t able to bring the show to Asia.

“It was so difficult. We were going through so many collective changes, you know, in the world and with the pandemic and it just didn’t allow for that to be possible. So, I am planning on bringing a really, really, really fun show to everyone in Manila,” she said.

Dua said it’s going to be one big dance party: “That’s all I intend to do. I just want to make sure that people come in dancing and leave dancing.”

Recently, her choreographer and her dancing team recently took home the Moonman from MTV Video Music Awards for the award Best Choreography for her music video “Houdini”.

“It’s wonderful for all the hard work to be recognized. My choreographer, Charm, she’s an absolute legend and a beast. She works so hard and she’s so incredibly talented,” said Dua.

She added, “I just feel so lucky to get to work with such an incredible team and alongside Charm, her assistants, Sharon and Sammy. It takes a village to do something like that. And so I have a lot of people to thank for that experience overall.”

Now, she’s raring to go to the Philippines to bring all the stops and dance moves on stage.

“It’s amazing to know that I have such a beautiful and strong and loyal fan base in the Philippines and I can’t wait to be out there. I think it’s really the energy that I get back. I think the voices that I hear coming back, singing back at me, it’s so powerful and infectious and it helps me put on an even better show,” she said.

And surprisingly, Dua has one important to-do or must-try on her list when she comes back.

“I’m also very excited to come back and have some lumpia. So I’m looking forward to that. And yeah, for me, it’s really just being back with my fans after so long and back with my listeners and being able to reunite and just connect again after six years,” she added.

Dua Lipa’s “Radical Optimism” concert at the Philippine Arena is happening on November 13.
