Demi Lovato isn’t sure if she’ll ever tour again

Demi Lovato has revealed that she may never tour again – see what else the singer had to say below.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for a new feature, Lovato – who now uses she/her pronouns again along with they/them pronouns – spoke about the possibility of hitting the road to perform after last performing for large stretches in 2023. After the ‘Holy Fvck’ tour, she announced her intentions to retire from touring.

While the singer did not share a concrete answer if she’d tour again, she cited her health as a reason for being hesitant to the idea of a heavy schedule: “It takes a toll on your body, I’m not 15 anymore.”

Lovato has dealt with a series of back issues, making it hard for her to perform for extended periods of time. Add in the hectic travel involved in touring, and that makes for a larger issue. Lovato also struggles with vision and heading impairment after an overdose in 2018.

The singer is still committed to making music, and is reportedly working on a project now, but is currently only looking at an occasional one-off show or TV performance.

Elsewhere in her chat, Lovato opened up about whether she would let her future children join show business: “I’d say, ‘Let’s study music theory and prepare you for the day you turn 18, because it’s not happening before that. Not because I don’t believe in you or love you or want you to be happy, but because I want you to have a childhood, the childhood that I didn’t have.’”

Lovato has been open about her struggles growing up as a child actor and balancing a music career. She got her start on Barney & Friends when she was just six years old, and went on to become a Disney star in her teens, fronting films like Princess Protection Program, Camp Rock, and series Sonny with a Chance.

In a three-star review of Lovato’s 2022 album ‘Holy Fvck’, NME wrote: “If ‘Holy Fvck’ is a funeral for Lovato’s pop music, it also marks a new beginning, with an artist reborn. As the musician explores this ferocious sonic world and celebrating her musical roots, it’s the start of a bold new era.”
