The singer is being honored as one of Time100’s most influential people ahead of her ‘Radical Optimism’ album release
Dua Lipa is stepping into her power as one of Time100’s most influential people for 2024.
The 28-year-old British singer-songwriter shined in a custom Chanel gown at the Time100 Gala, which took place in New York City on Thursday, April 25. Her white floral guipure lacy dress was embroidered with crystals and aluminum rings. Lipa’s look was inspired by look 43 from the fashion house’s Métiers d’art 2023/24 collection.
The ensemble consisted of a deep v-neck that pointed to a black bow and a white resin embellishment that rested right above her belly button, which was exposed by a small cut-out. The silver and white lacy gown also exposed the Grammy winner’s skin from head to toe.
She wore a couple of dainty diamond rings, as well as a diamond strand necklace that connected the two ends together and rested in between the plunging neckline. Lipa’s red hair was styled into a blowout with loose waves, and she sported a rosy makeup look of pinky blush and dark pink lipgloss — which also accentuated her fiery hair color.
The “Levitating” singer was named one of Time100’s Most Influential People of 2024 ahead of the release of her third studio album, Radical Optimism. So far, she has released three singles, “Houdini,” “Training Season” and “Illusion.”
She also recently made her onscreen debut in 2023’s Barbie (and contributed the Grammy-nominated track “Dance the Night” to the film’s soundtrack) and in 2024, appeared in the action comedy Argyle.
“The record as a whole is more mature,” she said of Radical Optimism, which comes out May 3, in her Time100 interview. “I’m definitely not the same person I was when I wrote my first album. I’ve evolved and learned so much… taking it as it comes, not seeing anything as bad or something as a setback. That involves a lot of growing and understanding myself, knowing my worth, whether it be in business, love, or friendship.”
Lipa shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Radical Optimism, which included a dramatic bleached eyebrows look for the album art photo shoot.
In a video montage posted to Instagram on Tuesday, April 2, the star is seen posing for photos in preparation for her latest project. For her most attention-grabbing look, Lipa leans over a mirror, her eyebrows seemingly missing (upon closer examination, it’s clear they’ve just been bleached). Her long hair is slicked behind her ears and she’s sporting ultra-glowy makeup, giving the star a chic, futuristic vibe.
“Album moments,” she captioned the post. “I hear you… feeling optimistic about this week.”
She debuted another beauty transformation in her April 2024 cover story for ELLE. In the photos, the singer’s auburn hair is styled into a voluminous beehive. Lipa also wears ‘60s-inspired makeup and teeters in sky-high platform shoes.
