Superstar is set to kick off first leg of her world tour in November
Shakira is definitely having more fun than anyone else: She celebrates the joys of being single on her new track “Soltera.”
The Afrobeats-infused song is an empowering anthem. She defends her “right to be bad” and “to have a good time,” as she sings (in Spanish) on the chorus. The song is a perfect kiss-off to people trying to shame her or any unmarried woman for having a little fun or letting loose.
Shakira filmed the star-studded video at LIV Miami with Anitta, Winnie Harlow, Lele Pons, and Danna. During the filming, where she previewed the new single for club-goers, she ended up walking off stage after catching a rude “fan” filming up her skirt.
The star released her 12th album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran in March and ha since been nominated for 3 Latin Grammys, including Album of the Year. When speaking to Rolling Stone after its release about what was left on cutting room floor, Shakira said: “There’s a few songs we have laying around. They’ve been tucked away. I don’t have a new album, but let’s just say there’s a new project.”
In the same interview, Shakira talked about her approach to love and romance following her public split from Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué in 2022. She joked about enjoying being single, but not thinking about a serious relationship. “What can I tell you, I like men,” she said, laughing. “That’s the problem. I shouldn’t like them with everything that’s happened to me, but imagine how much I like men that I still like them. But having a formal relationship, I think my kids would have to be very prepared for that, and their emotional and psychological well-being is the priority.”
This November, Shakira will begin the first leg of her world tour in the US. She kicks off the shows on November 2nd at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, CA then will wrap this leg in December in Detroit.
